July 2024 – Mondo Novo is thrilled to announce the premiere of our latest short film, “Dialoghi nel Vetro” (Murano Chronicles: Glass Tales of Love), which took place on Wednesday, July 24th at Forte Marghera in Venice. This enchanting piece, the result of over four months of dedicated work, offers a unique perspective on the rich history of Murano glassmaking, blending historical accuracy with magical realism.
A Night in the Furnace
“Dialoghi nel Vetro” takes viewers on an imaginative journey into a Murano glass furnace in Venice. As night falls, various glass artifacts crafted between the 14th and 20th centuries come to life, each sharing its unique story and perspective on Venetian history. Among these charming characters, viewers will meet an ancient Inghistera recounting memories of its creation, a Crystal Cup sharing tales of grand celebrations, and a Lantern illuminating the lives it has touched throughout the centuries.
Through these narratives, the film explores themes of love, creativity, spirituality, and the enduring impact of Venetian glassmaking on global culture. Each character represents a specific era and technique, showcasing the evolution of this magnificent art form and inviting viewers to experience the magic of Murano glass in a whole new light.
A Blend of History and Artistry
At Mondo Novo, we were committed to ensuring that while our story is fantastical, it remains grounded in the rich tradition of Murano glassmaking. The project involved a significant phase of historical research into this millennial art, aiming to deliver a visually impactful experience in a short format. The result is a film that not only entertains but also educates viewers about the cultural significance of Murano glass.
Supporting Venetian Culture and Innovation
We are proud to announce that “Dialoghi nel Vetro” was created as part of a project funded by the PR Veneto FESR 2021-2027 program. This support has been instrumental in allowing us to bring this unique vision to life, combining traditional storytelling with innovative filmmaking techniques to celebrate Venetian heritage.
