Our short film, “The Illusionist Dilemma“, exemplifies the festival’s vision by blending traditional storytelling with cutting-edge AI technology. Set in the iconic Robert-Houdin Theatre, the film brings together two legends of illusion and early cinema.
In a nocturnal encounter, escape artist Houdini seeks out early cinema pioneer Méliès, plunging into a world where reality bends at will. Amidst talking heads, philosophizing elephants, and physics-defying fish, their playful exchange conceals a profound inquiry into the nature of human creativity. As Houdini attempts to voice his thoughts on progress, Méliès’ fantastical distractions blur the lines between illusion and reality.
